World Cleanup Day started in 2018, when volunteers across 157 countries picked up trash on the same day, at the same time. Today it's grown into one of the largest civic movements on the planet — millions of people, one shared act: cleaning up the place they call home.
In the Philippines, that means barangay streets, esteros, beaches and school grounds all getting the same treatment on the same weekend. No trash is too small to matter, and no community is too small to join.
This year, we're extending it to a full weekend — September 19 and 20 — so more communities, schools and organizations can find a time that works and take part.

Trash left on the street doesn't stay on the street. It gets swept into drains, drains lead to esteros, esteros lead to rivers and rivers lead straight to the sea. What we don't pick up today, we — or someone downstream — will have to deal with tomorrow.
A cleanup won't fix the whole system. But it clears the path, gives communities a reason to work together, and shows what's possible when everyone shows up for the same hour.
